Takki
Everything Takki does
Page by page, in plain words. Press ? to read more.
The first time
Four screens and you're going.
Pick a language: Icelandic or English.
Icelandic is the default. Switch any time in Settings and the app translates itself at once — notifications included.
Type the child's name and pick a colour.
The child picks the colour of their button from six. That button is the child everywhere in the app, and it smiles when everything is done.
Tick the starter lists.
Morning and evening come pre-ticked. Homework, chores, a shopping list and a medicine reminder are there too. Everything can be changed later.
Ready. No sign-in, no lock.
Takki is a list app anyone can use straight away. The family, the lock and the settings are under the small button top right — when you want them.
Tasks — the child's screen
The screen the app is for.
A greeting and your button at the top.
"Good morning", "Good afternoon" or "Good evening" by the time of day, with the child's name. The button smiles when today's list is done.
Today's lists as chips.
When more than one list runs today, the child picks between them with one tap. Chips that don't fit slide sideways.
One small line: "3 of 5 done" and the streak.
Right under the chips, quietly. The flame shows how many days in a row the list has been finished.
Three views: list, tiles or path.
List is one line per task. Tiles are big pictures, two to a row. Path draws the tasks as a route — done, now, next. The child switches on screen, or a parent picks in Settings.
The next task is always the clearest.
It gets a ring in its own colour and a small "Next" label, so a child who has just looked up knows where to go.
Tap a task to start.
The steps open one at a time — or as a checklist of every step, whichever is chosen in Settings.
Or tick it straight off the list.
The circle on the right ticks the task in one go. On a shared device with several children, unticking asks first, so one child can't undo another.
A day off when nothing is scheduled.
If no list runs today (a weekend, say), Takki shows a sleepy button and "Nothing today".
Switch child with one tap.
Tap the name at the top and the family appears. With more than six profiles (a classroom) the list becomes a grid of buttons, and past ten a search field appears.
Add a task — right here.
A button under the tasks opens one sheet: a name, a picture, "Add to list". Below it, the library of ready-made tasks, one tap each. Steps and colour take care of themselves — steps can be added with "Split into steps".
A new list in one tap.
"+ New list" beside the chips: the starter lists you don't have yet, or a name of your own.
Edit list.
Name, icon, days, task order, take off, delete — all on one page under the tasks.
The small button top right: grown-ups.
The family, the lock and the settings. With the lock on it shows a lock and asks a sum; after that the app is open for a few minutes.
A new day at midnight.
Routines reset on their own. Checklists (shopping, say) stay ticked until you clear them.
A task in steps
One picture, one sentence, one button.
One step at a time.
A big picture, one sentence and one big button: "Next" — and "Done" on the last step. A strip at the top shows every step, so what comes next is never a surprise.
Or all steps at once.
A checklist of every step in the task, ticked one by one. Chosen in Settings → Tasks.
A reward screen at the end.
The button bounces (poke it!), praise with the child's name, a star if the list was finished — and a new badge when one is won. Confetti when everything is done.
Reminders
Medicine at eight, bedtime at half past.
A timeline of the day.
The time on the left, the reminder on the right, a line joining them. The next one is ringed in the app colour.
Tap when done.
A tick shows the reminder was handled. The number on the tab counts today's unhandled ones.
A notification on time.
At the time itself, or 15 or 30 minutes earlier as "time to get ready". Every day, or only chosen weekdays.
"Done" right from the notification.
A teen can confirm their medicine from the notification shade without opening the app. Tapping the notification opens Reminders with that reminder highlighted.
Other days, lower and quieter.
Reminders that don't run today sit below, with the days they do.
Edit reminders — here.
"Edit reminders" at the foot turns the timeline into a list where every row opens the reminder: name, icon, time (a wheel), lead time and weekdays. "New reminder" below it.
Each child gets their own.
On a shared device every child's notifications arrive with the child's name in front. A device pinned to one child only gets that child's.
Timer
Its own tab — and the timers you use most.
A coloured disc that shrinks.
Like a Time Timer. 1–60 minutes, twist the dial. Pause, resume, a chosen sound. A big "Time's up!" screen — and a notification if the app is closed.
Saved timers in one tap.
Teeth 2 min, tidy up 10, reading 15, homework 20, screen time 30 — and your own: set the dial, tap "Save as a timer", give it a name and a picture.
The count on the tab.
While a timer runs, its time shows on the tab at the bottom, wherever you are in the app.
Rewards
Stars climb a ladder of badges.
A star for every finished list.
One star per list per day. There is no farming stars by unticking and ticking again.
25 named badges.
From "First stars" (2 stars) up to "Master of masters" (1200). The first badges come quickly; after that each one is a real milestone. Locked badges show as silhouettes with the star count that unlocks them.
The next badge is always in sight.
The bar at the top shows how many stars are missing. After the last badge, every 100 stars earns a gold star.
Grown-ups
Under the small button top right: the lock, the family, the settings.
Lock editing — one switch.
Off to start: anyone using the device can add and change things. On: the add and edit buttons disappear, and the small button shows a lock. The lock belongs to this device.
A sum opens it for a few minutes.
A small multiplication with three answers. A wrong answer shakes the card and gives a new sum. After a right one the app is open for five minutes — the button shows an open lock meanwhile.
The family: tap a name.
One row per child with the number of lists and reminders and the streak. Tap a child to change their name and colour, see progress and the calendar.
Add a child.
Name, colour and starter lists right on the first screen — morning and evening pre-ticked, a medicine reminder on offer.
You.
The grown-up can give themselves a name and have their own lists and reminders too. Then they appear in the switcher at the top of Tasks.
Settings and Skólavefurinn.
Two rows at the bottom: every app setting, and a link to skolavefurinn.is.
Setting up a child
Who this is, and how it's going.
Name and colour.
Edited in place; the button recolours as you choose.
Lists and reminders are not here.
They are changed where they are seen: on Tasks and Reminders. Switch child at the top of Tasks and edit.
Progress.
Stars, lists finished this week and best streak. A week strip with the number of finished lists per day, and each list's own standing.
Calendar.
A month view with a mark on each day: everything done, some, none. Page back in time.
Remove child.
At the bottom of the child's own page, with confirmation. There is always at least one child.
A list
What it's called, how it behaves, what's on it.
Name and icon.
Edited in the header. 24 icons to choose from.
Routine or checklist.
A routine resets every day and counts towards streaks and history. A checklist (shopping, say) stays ticked until you press "Clear all".
Days.
Pick the weekdays the list runs on. On other days the child doesn't see it.
The tasks on the list.
Drag to reorder. × takes a task off the list without deleting it.
Add a task: one sheet.
A name, a picture from 50, "Add to list". Below it the library: fifteen ready-made tasks with pictures and steps — brush teeth, get dressed, breakfast, pack the bag, tidy toys, bath, pyjamas, read a story, homework, make the bed, dishes, trash, milk, bread, fruit.
Steps if you want them.
"Split into steps" on the sheet: up to six, each its own sentence, shown one at a time like the ready-made tasks. The colour picks itself.
Edit your own task.
Tap a task you made: the same sheet, prefilled. Deleting is at the bottom of the sheet.
Delete list.
At the bottom of the list, with confirmation. There is always at least one list.
Settings
Appearance, tasks, sound, language, account.
App colour.
Five colours: lavender, mint, sky, peach, rose. The paper itself always stays the same.
Bigger text.
Every bit of text in the app grows. Works on top of the phone's text size.
Light, dark or device.
A dark look for the evening. "Device" follows the phone's setting.
Task list: list, tiles or path.
How the day looks on the child's screen.
Steps: one at a time or all at once.
One big step per screen, or a checklist of all of them.
Sound.
Four small cues: step, task, star and badge — each bigger than the last. They respect the phone's silent switch.
Gentle motion.
Turns off animations and vibration for those who want stillness.
Timer sound.
Five sounds to choose from; tap to hear.
Sunday summary.
A Sunday-evening nudge to look at the week — under the small button top right.
This device: shared or one child's.
With more than one child. A shared device shows everyone and allows switching. A device pinned to one child shows only that child and gets only their reminders.
Language.
Icelandic or English.
Account — optional.
Without signing in, everything stays on the device. Sign in with Google or Apple to back up and sync across devices. The account can be deleted from inside the app.
